MANILA—A 15-year-old girl from Bacolod City became the first “The Voice Teens 2” hopeful to have been shown to pass her blind audition after the show’s quarantine-forced three-month break.

The hit reality competition, returning on the Kapamilya Channel on Saturday, aired its first episode since March, and it showed one that was apparently recorded prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It introduced Alexis Mingming, who grew up with her grandparents after her own parents separated. She sadly shared that both her lolo and lola passed away last year due to cancer.

The teen sang “Magasin” and her cover was enough to convince Lea Salonga that she deserves a shot in the next round.

In her comments, Salonga was in agreement with the other coaches who didn’t turn that Alexis lacks consistency with her “storytelling.”

But that aspect of singing can be taught, according to Salonga, and that she’s happy to have a talent such as Alexis on her team.

The new “The Voice Teens” episode aired on the Kapamilya Channel, which is mainly available through cable providers such as Sky, as the government continues to discuss ABS-CBN’s franchise issues.

It is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 7 p.m. on Sundays.
