Throwback: When a music legend sang 'Be My Lady'

<figure class="op-social"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_bKOFxwaquI?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0" width="510"></iframe></figure><p>For this week&#x27;s throwback video, here&#x27;s one, recorded back in 1983, of the late legendary balladeer Matt Monro singing Vehnee Saturno&#x27;s slow classic &quot;Be My Lady.&quot; </p><p>Monro, in his brilliant baritone that even Frank Sinatra could not help but <a href="http://www.mattmonro.com/biog.html" target="_blank">praise</a>, delivered a rich rendition of the Filipino favorite, which is also the theme song of a show of the same title starring Daniel Matsunaga and Erich Gonzales. </p><p>According to Saturno, the recording featured arrangement from Dante Trinidad and Jun Orenza, and was produced by Boyet Manahan of Dyna Records --one of the first indie record labels in the country. </p><p>It is one of the few documented recordings of Monro, who died from liver cancer in 1985, singing a Filipino hit.
