MANILA – For the first time, Daniel Miranda granted his first sit-down interview since his girlfriend, actress Sofia Andres, announced that they now have a baby.

Joining Andres in her virtual interview with Korina Sanchez for “Rated K,” Miranda admitted he was shocked at the beginning that he’s a dad all of a sudden.

“It wasn’t easy. It’s very pressuring as well, at such a young age, I have a baby. But with Sofia by my side and her support as well towards me, she made it a lot easier for me,” he said.

Miranda is a 23-year-old race car driver, born in Cebu.

He and Andres first met in 2016 in a chance encounter at a club in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Andres said it was Miranda’s cousin who asked who she was and introduced her to Miranda. They exchanged numbers and were inseparable since then.

According to Andres, Miranda was in Thailand for a race when she told him that they are having a baby.

“I just waited for him to finish. Siguro I kept it for a week and then hinintay ko muna matapos. Mahirap kasi kapag magulo 'yung utak kapag driver. Kailangan focused sa pagmamaneho. Medyo delikado,” she shared.

“Nung nanalo siya, tinawagan ko and sabi ko I’m pregnant and I showed him the ultrasound photo. That’s when he cried like a baby. Hindi niya alam kung ano 'yung mararamdaman niya. Siyempre parang natural po 'yun,” she added.

While admitting she was also scared of how Miranda would react, Andres said it was a relief that her boyfriend never left her since.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako pero medyo natakot din ako na paano kapag sinabi ko, baka iwan ako nito. Siyempre kasi bata pa rin po 'yun eh. Pero I am very proud of him na handa siya at tinulungan niya ako sa whole journey ko. Hindi po siya nang-iwan,” she said.

Now that they are parents, Miranda said he shares the same plans for baby Zoe with Andres.

“For Zoe, we just want the best for her. We want her to be happy. We’ll see how it goes and we’ll see what she can bring. I’m just hoping for the very best for her, for me and for Sofia,” he said.

When asked if it’s okay with him if Andres would go back to showbiz in the future, Miranda said: “That’s her main craft and I really support her with that. Whatever she’s happy with doing, I’ll support her all the way.”
