Anton Antenorcruz, a finalist of "Tawag ng Tanghalan," confessed he is not proud of his decision to marry his boyfriend back when he was still a teen, he told Pep on Thursday.

Antenorcruz, 26, shared that he was only 18 when he tied the knot in 2012 with John Carasig, a Filipino-Australian chef. He called his decision then as "rash" and labeled it as a "mistake."

"Ang masasabi ko lang po [ay] mali 'yung decision ko noon," he told the entertainment website. "Mali 'yung decision ko, na ngayon hindi ko na siya uulitin. Padalus-dalos lang po talaga.”

Antenorcruz's past relationship with Carasig was drudged up while he was still competing in the popular singing contest. He said that it resulted in "emotional stress" that affected his performances.

He said that his and Carasig's marriage lasted for about a year. He did not go into details as to why they broke up, but he reiterated that he was reckless.

“Kumbaga, 'yung mga life-changing decisions before, noong bata pa ako, di ko pa naisip ang importance ng mga ganu'ng kalalaking decisions," he explained.

He said that it was a "learning" experience for him.

He added that he used the controversy as extra motivation for him during "Tawag ng Tanghalan." Antenorcruz reached the grand finals, but failed to crack the top 3.

"Iyon [ay isa sa] mga uri ng pagkakamali na marami kang matututunan, na kahit na husgahan ka ng tao matututo kang patunayan na mas may ibubuga ka pa," he said.

"Iyon naman ang nagpalakas sa akin," he furthered, concluding the interview by saying that he intends to "move forward" from the issue.

Antenorcruz was speaking at the sidelines of a press conference held for the launch of TNT Records, a new record label under ABS-CBN and Star Music.

Like Antenorcruz, the first batch of artists all made their mark in the popular "It's Showtime" singing contest.
