MANILA – Angel Locsin took to social media to clarify her earlier statement calling on her fellow celebrities not to remain silent and use their voice following the decision of some lawmakers to shut down ABS-CBN for good.

Through an Instagram Story Thursday afternoon, Locsin explained that speaking up does not mean going out to join rallies.

“There are many ways to show support. Iba 'yung takot sa COVID, iba 'yung ayaw lang talaga,” she said.

“Kung may na-offend, I apologize dahil nasaktan ko kayo. Pero hindi dahil sa sinabi kong magsalita kayo. Dahil kailangan talaga nating magsalita ngayon,” she added.

To end her post, Locsin called for unity and said: “Magkaisa tayo at 'wag magpagamit.”

On July 20, Locsin made a similar post saying no one is asking anybody to go to a rally.

"Obviously, you don’t need to go out to use your voice for the voiceless. But making up an excuse to save face at the expense of those who are fighting for their lives is purely disgusting,” she said.

Locsin is among the celebrities who have been actively criticizing the denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise bid.

In countless occasions, Locsin has led her fellow celebrities in noise barrages to protest the attack on the Kapamilya network.
