Karylle, Yael share story behind song for PH Olympic team

<p>MANILA – Husband and wife Karylle and Yael Yuzon of Sponge Cola shared on Sunday the story behind the official song of the Philippine delegation to the 2016 Rio Olympics.</p><p>The song &quot;Sabay Tayo&quot; was chosen to be the official song for Gilas Pilipinas and the Philippine delegation to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.</p><p>Speaking on DZMM&#x27;s &quot;Chismax,&quot; Karylle admitted it was a collaboration among many names in the local music industry.</p><p>&quot;Madaming [involved.] Syempre, &#x27;yung banda ni Yael, Sponge Cola. At saka si Frank Magalona pa. Kasama din &#x27;yung mga estudyante - &#x27;yung UP Tugma. Isa silang org doon. Collaboration talaga,&quot; Karylle explained</p><p>According to Yuzon, Karylle wrote most parts of the song, while Magalona contributed the rap portion.</p><p>&quot;Si K yung nagsulat siguro ng mga 60% to 70% ng lyrics,&quot; Yuzon said.</p><p>Karylle said she is not exactly a sports person, but she counts Olympic boxers Carlos Padilla Sr. as her forefather. She hinted that the sports blood must be running through her veins.</p><p>She explained that she had to immerse herself with sports in order to find the right words for the song.</p><p>&quot;Siguro mas nanuod lang talaga ako (sports),&quot; Karylle answered on how she prepared for writing the song. &quot;&#x27;Yung inemmerse ko yung sarili ko sa sports scene. Nanuod ako ng volleyball games, ng PBA Finals.&quot;</p><p>Karylle feels proud that they gave their all in writing the song, which eventually became the Philippine team&#x27;s official song for the Games.</p><p>&quot;Ibinuhos namin &#x27;yung puso namin.
