WATCH: How Mariel Rodriguez prepared surprise party for Robin Padilla

MANILA -- "It's Showtime" host Mariel Rodriguez recently gathered the friends and family of her husband, action star Robin Padilla, for a surprise birthday bash.

Padilla will turn 50 in November, but Rodriguez threw an early birthday party since she will be flying to the United States to give birth to their second child.

She opted to do it on her birthday, August 10.

"I'm so excited because today is my birthday! Usually kapag birthdays natin it's always about ourselves... But today is extra special because today, the most important person to me turns 50. That's why we are throwing him a surprise party," Rodriguez said.

She added: "This is probably the hardest secret that I ever had to keep... Pero the whole time naman, ang feeling niya talaga birthday ko. Pero there were so many instances na parang may nadudulas o kaya magtataka siya."

Padilla, for his part, thanked Rodriguez for her effort to make him feel special and loved.

"Maraming salamat, Babe. Totoong ikaw ang preacher of love. I love you," he said.

Some of the celebrities spotted at the event were Pokwang, Jodi Sta. Maria, Gretchen Barretto, Karylle, Rufa Mae Quinto, Ruffa Gutierrez, Bianca Gonzalez, Karla Estrada, Bayani Agbayani, Vhong Navarro, and Iza Calzado.

Nadia Montenegro, Bb. Joyce Bernal, Eddie Gutierrez, Annabelle Rama, and Lily Monteverde were also present.

President Rodrigo Duterte also graced the event.
