MANILA - Vhong Navarro is hoping that his upcoming movie "Mang Kepweng Returns" will be part of this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

After his movie "Buy Now, Die Later" made it to last year's MMFF, Navarro is excited to introduce the classic komiks character to a new generation of moviegoers.

Created by cartoonist Agripino Baque, the quack doctor was originally played by the late comedian Chiquito back in 1979.

As early as now, Navarro is already excited for the movie.

"Sa dami ng henerasyon na dumating, ngayon lang ulit naisipan na i-remake ang movie ni Papang Chiquito at isa ako sa napili ng producer na gumanap. Kaya sobra akong kinakabahan at excited," Navarro said in an interview on Monday after his contract signing with ABS-CBN.

"Ang ginagawa naming version ay sino si Mang Kepweng noon at ito na 'yung bagong Mang Kepweng," he added.

The movie, which will be directed by GB Sampedro, also stars Jaclyn Jose, Valeen Montenegro and Kim Domingo.

Meanwhile, Navarro also announced that there will be another season of "Dance Kids."
