<figure class="op-interactive"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kKXCjX0ClCw" width="560"></iframe></figure><p>MANILA – The Filipino movie “Madilim ang Gabi” (Dark is the Night) from independent filmmaker Adolfo Alix Jr. made its world premiere at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).</p><p>According to the <a href="http://www.tiff.net/tiff/dark-is-the-night/">TIFF website</a>, the film “looks at the appalling costs of current Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte&#x27;s extrajudicial war on the country&#x27;s drug trade, which by conservative estimates has already resulted in 7,000 deaths.”</p><p>The film tells the story of a couple who scour the streets of Manila looking for their missing son, who is a drug addict.
