“Tawag ng Tanghalan” semifinalist Elaine Duran, the competition’s first “Record Holder” after winning 10 straight days as a defending champion, once again roused the judges to a standing ovation on Thursday, and even moved one of them to tears.

Duran, one of the five Quarter 1 semifinalists, performed “Oo” by Up Dharma Down with a classical twist — the challenge assigned to her in line with the day’s theme, “Hurados’ Choice.”

During her performance, the judges were visibly impressed, with her idol, Kyla, apparently shaking off goosebumps, and Dulce wiping tears.

Commenting on Duran’s performance, Kyla said: “Salamat sa pagdala mo sa amin sa napaka-exciting na adventure. Every time kumakanta ka, ang galing-galing mo talaga. Good luck na lang talaga sa mga makakalaban mo. Sila na lang sasabihan ko ng good luck, ang galing mo talaga, e. God bless you!”

At the conclusion of the week-long semifinals on Saturday, two grand finalists will be named. Also in the running are Duran’s fellow Mindanao bets John Mark Digamon and Jophil Cece, and Visayas singers Windimie Yntong and Ranillo Enriquez.
