Jauhn Etienne Villaruel, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>BANGKOK, Thailand—Filipino director Petersen Vargas’ sophomore feature film bagged the grand prize for the third Southeast Asian Fiction Film Lab (SEAFIC) in a ceremony held here Monday.Currently in the pre-production stage, Vargas&#x27; second feature tentatively titled &quot;Some Nights I Feel Like Walking&quot; will receive a $15,000 (P768,000) cash grant from SEAFIC.The film is co-produced by Jade Castro and Alemberg Ang.&quot;My second film aims at being a portrait of a nation (and of a city, homeland, people) as seen through its outskirts and shadows,&quot; Vargas had earlier said.Representatives from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) were also in the ceremony in Bangkok to witness the awarding.&quot;We&#x27;re actually very proud to support them. We feel like this is a very important platform that allows for the projects to really have a holistic type of development. We&#x27;re very happy for them and we hope for the fruition of this project,&quot; FDCP executive director Ria Anne Rubia told ABS-CBN News.Also in the competition this year were &quot;Autobiography” from Indonesia, “The Women” from Myanmar, and “Till The Cave Fills” and “Skin of Youth” both from Vietnam.SEAFIC is an intensive script and development lab for Southeast Asian filmmakers that aims to strengthen the quality of feature-length films from the region.Each year, the program selects filmmakers with work-in-progress scripts to work with veteran script consultant for 8 months to develop and refine their screenplays.The jury for this year’s SEAFIC were Georges Goldenstern, general manager of Cinéfondation Cannes; Sophie Bourdon, head of Locarno Open Doors platform; and Albert Lee, executive director of Hong Kong Film Festival.($1=P51.2)
