‘The world should hear you’: With emotional performance, Jason Fernandez reclaims ‘Tawag’ finals spot

<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/tvpatrol/11/06/20191107-vice.jpg"/><figcaption>Vice Ganda sings along as Tawag ng Tanghalan contender Jason Fernandez performs ‘With or Without You.’ <em>ABS-CBN</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>With an emotional rendition of a U2 hit, Jason Fernandez on Thursday reclaimed a spot in the grand finals of Tawag ng Tanghalan after being eliminated early this week.</p><p>The former Rivermaya frontman was one of four celebrity “Resbakers” who performed, for another shot as a finalist in the noontime singing competition.</p><p>Fernandez’s soaring rendition of “With or Without You” had hosts Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis singing along, with Amy Perez admittedly moved by the performance.</p><p>Interviewing Fernandez afterwards, Perez said: “Pinipigilan ko ‘yung sarili ko, kasi para kang maiiyak. Nakakaiyak pag nakikita mong ang tatay o lalaki ang umiiyak.”</p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/C5vMJNkzSeA?enablejsapi=1"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>Judge Ogie Alcasid agreed, saying Fernandez’s “storytelling was excellent.”</p><p>“The sound that comes out of your mouth, your voice, it’s magical. It’s just so amazing. Solid. Powerful. Sobrang astig. [I’m a] fan... The world should hear you. You’re great,” he said.</p><p>Garnering the highest combined scores from the judges and public votes, Fernandez won the day’s “Resbak” edition, securing him a slot in the celebrity finale.</p><p>Also among the first batch of “Resbakers” with Fernandez were DJ Onse, RJ dela Fuente, and Jimmy Marquez.</p>
