The characters of Richard Gutierrez, Vice Ganda, and Dingdong Dantes face off in the first teaser of ‘Fantastica.’ ABS-CBN/Star Cinema

MANILA — Vice Ganda, Dingdong Dantes, and Richard Gutierrez face off with respective allegiances to being Kapamilya, Kapuso or Kapatid in a “Fantastica” scene, which — it has been revealed — was not originally part of the script.

The humorous confrontation among the three lead characters became an instant favorite among fans, as the teaser for the Metro Manila Film Festival entry made the rounds online Sunday.

The scene, it turns out, was impromptu, according to Gutierrez.

“Naisip lang ‘yun on the spot ni Vice! That was actually on the spot. We’re happy that it worked,” the 34-year-old actor revealed.

Gutierrez credited his first-time co-star for “making our lives easier on set, dahil sobrang witty niya, sobrang bilis niya mag-isip ng mga punchline.”

“Sobrang sarap niya katrabaho,” he added.

Gutierrez spoke with ABS-CBN News on the sidelines of the shooting of “Family is Love,” the media giant’s Christmas station ID which gathers some 400 Kapamilya stars.

It marks Gutierrez’s second time joining the ABS-CBN Christmas station ID, having transferred to the Kapamilya network in mid-2017.

In the “Fantastica” scene making light of the so-called “network wars,” Gutierrez makes a reference to his storied career of being once a Kapuso with GMA-7, then a Kapatid with TV5, before becoming a Kapamilya.

“Ngayon kasi, we have to move forward from that network war thing. Siyempre, pang-Pasko naman ‘to. Dingdong’s in the movie. He’s a Kapuso. It’s fun to, in a comedy especially, break barriers and break rules,” he said.

Referring to Dantes, Gutierrez went on: “Nakakatawa nga, kung kailan naging Kapamilya ako, doon pa kami nakagawa ng full-length na movie. Always a pleasure working with him. It was a good experience for both of us.”

Joining the three lead stars in “Fantastica” are Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Loisa Andalio, Ronnie Alonte, Kisses Delavin, Donny Pangilinan, Ryan Bang, and Bela Padilla.

With a star-studded cast and a story spanning realms — Gutierrez plays a prince magically transported to the modern world — he assured moviegoers of “non-stop comedy.”

“Ako, honestly, as long as the people enjoy the film, we get positive feedback, I’m happy with it na,” he said, shrugging off the stiff box-office race of the Christmastime festival.
