MANILA — Matteo Guidicelli started saving up for an engagement ring for Sarah Geronimo as early as 2014, according to the actor’s former road manager.

On Instagram on Wednesday, Jerry Telan shared throwback photos with his former ward under Star Magic, as he greeted Guidicelli on his engagement with Geronimo.

“So happy for Matty. His perseverance [was] 5 years in the making,” Telan said, referring to Guidicelli’s wedding proposal.

“Sabi niya noong 2014 sa aming mall show raket in Bohol: ‘Kuya Jers, I need more work to buy [an] engagement ring for Sarah.’ And the rest is history,” he wrote.

That year also happened to be when Geronimo and Guidicelli first confirmed being a couple, nearly a year after they actually became official.

They celebrated their sixth anniversary in September 2019.

Guidicelli belatedly revealed his engagement with Geronimo on November 7, “about a year” after the actual proposal happened, according to the actor’s younger brother, Paolo.
