Xian Lim tried his best to console his girlfriend, Kim Chiu, who was seen crying in a photo he shared on Instagram Stories late Thursday.

He's been open about how important Kim Chiu is to him.

So when he saw her crying, Xian Lim could not help but try to console her by telling her: "It's OK, you did your best."

The actor posted the worrying image of Chiu in tears on his Instagram Stories hours after the awards night of the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival concluded late Thursday.

It remains unclear why his girlfriend turned emotional although the hashtag he used was pretty telling. "More cinemas for 'One Great Love'" it read, referring to Chiu's entry with Dennis Trillo.

The movie was named 3rd Best Picture, behind "Aurora" and "Rainbow's Sunset," but had an apparently lackluster start in the box office since premiering on Christmas.

A quick look at Chiu's Twitter account showed her fans complaining that the movie had been removed in cinemas near them.

Chiu put up a positive message up on her social media pages after the results of the awards night were revealed, saying that she's "grateful to be part of this wonderful project."

She also congratulated her fellow best actress nominees, including the winner, Gloria Romero of "Rainbow's Sunset."

Her mood in her snaps was a contrast to the one she had in Lim's photo, which showed her burying her face in her hands.
