MANILA -- Season 3 of the queer dating show "Sparks Camp" is set to premiere this July 16 on ABS-CBN Entertainment's YouTube channel.

On Tuesday, the show's host, creators and 10 new campers for the upcoming season were present during the media conference held in Makati City.

"Kung season 1 is demure, season 2 is puksaan, season 3 is mature," "Sparks Camp" host Mela Habijan said.

"I think it's mature emotionally because you will be seeing a lot of conversation. You will be seeing a lot of initiation. So mayroon talagang intention, it's a very intentional season,"  she added.

In the media conference, the first 30 minutes of episode 1 of the new were shown to members of the media.

"Akala ng tao noong nakita nila 'yung pictures ng campers, ito 'yung tipong puksaan. But as you can see they were really genuinely trying to know each other, wala 'yung parang 'magpe-perform ako.' They were really like just genuinely trying to get to know each other kasi doon naman talaga nagsisimula ang love story," the show's director Theodore Boborol said after the sneak peek.

"Malakas ang pakiramdam namin na we did a good show this season. Ako confident akong sasabihin na maganda ng season 3," writer and creative producer Hyro Aguinaldo said.

In the conference Habijan also reiterated the purpose of the show. 

"I think what 'Sparks Camp' really stands by is to be able to show our representation of what queer people are and what queer romance is at a time which queer romance and queer interactions are being challenged. Sana ang 'Sparks Camp' ay maging  representasyon kung saan nakikita ang ganda at 'yung halaga ng identidad at pag-ibig," Habijan said.

"Ito ang pangunahing mithiin ng 'Sparks Camp' na ang pag-ibig ng bawat isang tao whether it be heterosexual love, homosexual love, queer love, lahat 'yon ay maganda, dahil ang pag-ibig first and foremost is beautiful," she added.

According Aguinaldo, season 3 hopes to reach a wider audience.

"Kailangan nating ma-reach ang mas maraming tao, makausap ang mas maraming tao para maipaliwanag natin anong klaseng buhay ng queer, anong klaseng buhay mayroon tayo bilang LGBTQ+ at bakit may karapatan tayong magmahal," Aguinaldo said.

For his part, Boborol said that as a director, his main purpose is to entertain people and make the audience fall in love with the story of the campers.

"Yun naman ang nagustuhan ko sa show -- ang dami naming fans na mga queer and straight people at mga babae in particular na sobrang nai-in love sa mga campers at kinikilig sa love stories nila. Alam mo 'yon kapag nai-in love sila at nae-entertain sila at kinikilig, nare-realize nila na 'oo nga bakit ayaw silang payagang mag-same sex marriage' eh tao naman sila nakakaramdam ng love, hurt and pain. So ako basically as an entertainer 'yun ang purpose ko rito to really make the people in love, provide kilig and to entertain them para eventually ma-realize nilang hindi na ako homophobic, kinikilig na ako nagru-root na ako for them," Boborol said. 

"'Yun naman ang pina-promise sa season 3. We went back to the basic show that this is a dating show. So when we choose the cast members we had to ask their preferences, we had to ask sino ang pwedeng magkaroon ng chemistry at maging compatible, kasi we want to provide the ultimate kilig love story," the director added.

In the conference, the official poster of the show's season 3 was also unveiled.

"Sparks Camp" season 3 will be available for streaming beginning July 16 on ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channel at 7 p.m..
