Netflix offers first look at 'Squid Game' Season 2

MANILA -- Netflix Philippines has unveiled the first images of Season 2 of the phenomenal South Korean series "Squid Game."


A preview of the mega hit series, which is set to return this year, was released as part of "NEXT ON NETFLIX 2024: The Series & Films Preview." 



First images of the new "Squid Game" were also released on Netflix's social media accounts.

The preview shows Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) making a critical decision as he abandons his US plans after a mysterious call and embarks on a chase with a motive.

The new season under the direction of Hwang Dong-hyuk will also welcome other characters back like Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) and Recruiter (Gong Yoo). A new character played by Park Gyu-young makes her debut. 

Aside from directing, Hwang also resumes his role as writer and producer. 

The first season of "Squid Game" was released in 2021 and took the world by storm quickly becoming one of Netflix's most watched series. It garnered over 1.65 billion viewing hours watched by more than 142 million households in its first 28 days, the series took the #1 spot in “Today’s Top 10” across 94 countries.

The series also made history by winning six Primetime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Directing for Hwang Dong-hyuk and Outstanding Lead Actor for Lee, and earned awards including the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Series, and an AFI Honor in 2021
