MANILA -- OPM artist Janah Zaplan is set to release her latest single “I LUV U.”

Dubbed as the Millennial Pop Princess, Zaplan will deliver an empowering statement in “I LUV U,” which is dropping on streaming platforms on Friday, February 9.

The pop track is about deciding to choose oneself and prioritize one’s well-being after being part of “a relationship marked by weariness and complacency.”

“Through soulful melodies and honest lyrics, it speaks to anyone finding the courage to break free from familiar cycles and embrace their own happiness. Gaya nga nang sabi sa lyrics, ‘This time, I choose to love me over you," Zaplan said in a statement.

Zaplan also shared why she chose to record the single.

“I thought it might be another typical love song, but upon listening closely, I was struck by its unexpected twist and profound message. It spoke directly to my heart. I felt an immediate connection and knew that this song had to be a part of me,” she revealed.

“I LUV U” was composed by Angelica Tagadtad and produced by StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos.

Zaplan, who is also a student pilot, was named Best New Female Solo Artist at the PPop Awards 2023. She previously released “Dancing On My Own” and “Maiba Naman,” which turned out to be self-love anthems like “I LUV U.”

“While it wasn't initially a deliberate plan, it's fascinating how the creative journey unfolded. From ‘Maiba Naman’ to ‘I LUV U,’ my music has organically become a source of self-empowerment and resilience for listeners facing various challenges in life,” she said.
