MANILA -- Wearing his signature fashion ensemble — baggy pants, leather jacket, necklace, and bag -- James Reid attended the Philippine premiere of Liza Soberano’s Hollywood debut film “Lisa Frankenstein” last Tuesday.

Reid said he’s beyond proud of Soberano, who’s currently making headlines now for her role in the Zelda Williams movie.

“She’s doing us really proud. I’m so happy for her. It’s a big dream come true for her,” Reid said.

Some of the movies reviews are already in -- and many have cited Soberano's performance.

“Soberano delivers her lines with humor that, whether by design or by accident, adds a quirky charm to the story,” according to Deadline. USA Today's review said, “The movie’s breakout gem is Soberano who brings scene-stealing verve," while Vanity Fair said, “Soberano, a star in her native Philippines making her Stateside debut, is an ace scene stealer.”

“She really shines in this film. She’s not a comedienne but she has a very good comedic timing. She knows what she’s doing,” Reid said.

The Careless PH executive also revealed what’s next for Soberano.

“I really can’t speak too much right now but she’s currently in LA. She’ll be there for a while. She has a lot of projects coming soon. She’ll be there for few months. We’re excited for the projects both internationally and locally,” he said.

Reid said he was also happy to see Soberano's longtime partner Enrique Gil at the local premiere.

“I’m glad that Enrique was able to make it to the premiere. I haven’t seen him for the long time. It’s good to see him full support for Liza,” Reid said.

Careless executives, talents, Reid's girlfriend Issa Pressman, and even Reid’s mother were also present at the premiere.

“It’s a funny, quirky movie,” Reid ended, while inviting Filipinos to watch “Lisa Frankenstein” in cinemas.
