MANILA — Actor and musician Kyle Echarri recently released a song with singer Juan Karlos, a Bisaya song titled "Kasing Kasing," which translates to "heart" in English, showcasing their shared roots in Cebu.

In a recent interview, Kyle Echarri revealed that he and Juan Karlos initially planned to write a Filipino song together.

However, they decided to pivot to Bisaya, their native language, as they felt a lack of representation of Bisaya music in the mainstream industry.

Echarri expressed his passion for promoting and normalizing Bisaya songs: “We’re trying to making it more normal kasi napakaraming Bisaya rito sa Pilipinas.”

As the music video for "Kasing Kasing" continues to gain traction, surpassing 500,000 views on YouTube since its release 2 weeks ago, Echarri and Juan Karlos persist in pushing boundaries and breaking stereotypes in the music industry.

“Kami ni JK kasi laking Cebu kami parehas kaming taga-Cebu, we wanted to show how Bisaya people are with our language with how we express our emotions and ako personally wala pa ako narinig na talagang emotional na Bisaya kaya gusto namin gawin to kaya namin nagawa,” Echarri said.
