MANILA -- On his 40th year in the entertainment industry, OPM veteran Gary Valenciano strengthened his ties with ABS-CBN as he officially inked a contract as an artist of Star Magic on Tuesday, April 16.

Present during his contract signing were Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi, ABS-CBN COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, Star Magic manager Alan Real and Valenciano's wife and talent manager Angeli Pangilinan.

Before the contract signing, Valenciano was welcomed and congratulated by ABS-CBN chairman Mark Lopez, ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak and Vidanes.

"What could be next after 40 years? Well this is next -- to be accepted to a family like Star Magic. Kasi akala ko ang focus nila ay nasa kabataan, so tinanong ko isang beses, what's my role in this? It was explained to me what my role is going to be and I'm excited to play that role for everyone," Valenciano said.

Asked about his upcoming projects, the music veteran said: "Some of the projects may not be performing but still they will be projects that are meant to move and make impact on the hearts of young people, hearts of seasoned people and I like that role," Valenciano said.

Valenciano also said he is open to going back to acting.

"I don't mind going back into acting a bit more, I don't mind. My doors are open to it. Hindi ko sinasabi na tatanggap ako ng kung ano-ano but if the right project comes, I will certainly keep myself open to that," said Valenciano, who warmed up to idea of doing a sequel to his 1995 movie "Hataw Na."
