K-pop group LUN8: We want to show our determination, desire for growth

Coming six months since its debut, such an achievement signified promise for label Fantagio’s newly minted group.</div><p>But the eight-member team knows it has more to show its audience. So for its first comeback, LUN8 draws from gaming concepts to convey the members’ ambitions to level up as artists.</p><p>“For our album ‘BUFF,’ we aimed to capture our determination and desire for growth, inspired by the concept of buffs,” member Do Hyun told ABS-CBN News, referring to a gaming term that describes a boost in a character’s stats or abilities.</p><p>“Beyond our focus on growth and improvement, ‘BUFF’ also tells the stories of eight young boys as they navigate love and dreams,” he added.</p><p>Released in March, the six-track “BUFF” is fronted by “SUPER POWER,” a bright and energetic pop song that features a catchy hook, funky bass and dreamy synths. Lyrically, the song is about strong feelings of attraction, with LUN8 likening the object of their affections to a superpowered person.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pgxBMYqZ92s?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><p>“While ‘SUPER POWER’ shares the energetic vibe of [one of our debut songs] ‘Wild Heart,’ it has a slightly different feeling. Where ‘Wild Heart’ creates a lively atmosphere with whistles and drum beats, ‘SUPER POWER’ uplifts listeners with its catchy melody,” Ji Eun Ho said.</p><p>“Just like our debut track, I hope you’ll enjoy this new song as it’s perfect for easy listening and a good mood boost,” he added.</p><p>Formed by Fantagio (also home to boy band Astro and Cha Eun-woo), LUN8 — also consisting of Chael, Jin Su, Takuma, Jun Woo, Ian and Eun Seop — debuted in June 2023 with the extended play “CONTINUE?”, which spawned the double title tracks “Wild Heart” and “Voyager.”</p><p>More from our interview with LUN8:</p><div><strong>Since the title track is called &#x27;SUPER POWER&#x27;, if each member could have a superpower, what type of power would they want to have and why?</strong></div><p><strong>Jin Su: </strong>I would like to be able to not feel tired, even if I don&#x27;t sleep. I believe super power could prevent me from experiencing the sense of achievement that comes with hard work, so I&#x27;d rather live my life earnestly with the abilities I have and cherish the successes I earn through effort.</p><p><strong>Chael:</strong> I would like to have the ability to go back in time because I want to continually experience the happiness and joy of spending enjoyable moments with our fans. </p><p><strong>Do Hyun: </strong>I would like to have a superpower that will allow me to never get tired, so I can continuously show our fans only the best side of me.</p><p><strong>Ian: </strong>Since I love dancing and I am eager to become better at it, I want to become the best dancer in the world.</p><p><strong>Eun Seop:</strong> I want to gain the ability to stop time, so I can sleep a lot during the paused time, quickly recover and improve my condition, and then only show our fans my best side.</p><div><strong>Apart from the title track, which other songs from the album do the members consider their favorite and why?</strong></div><p><strong>Takuma: </strong> Mine is &quot;Got the Rizz.&quot; ! The song is a perfect blend of hip and cozy vibes, making it an ideal soundtrack for a relaxing drive.</p><p><strong>Eun Seop: </strong>Among all the tracks on our second mini album, my favorite is &quot;MON2SUN.&quot; The message of this song is, &#x27;I’m thinking of you from Monday to Sunday&#x27; and it’s something that I want to tell our fans. On top of this, the melody is so addictive that once you listen to it, you can’t stop.</p><div><strong>This is your first comeback as a full group. In between your debut and this first comeback, some of the members promoted in the subunit LUN8wave. How have those previous promotions help you prepare for this comeback?</strong></div><p><strong>Jun Woo:</strong> Through our experiences from previous promotions, I&#x27;ve developed a deeper understanding of the emotions conveyed in songs. This has enabled us to put more effort into grasping the interpretations and feelings behind the tracks in our new album. </p><div><strong>In a previous interview, Chael and Eun Seop described Astro members Cha Eun-woo and San-ha as their respective role models. How is it like to be in the same label as your role models and did any of the Astro members offer any encouraging or helpful advice for LUN8?</strong></div><p><strong>Chael: </strong>Whenever I encounter Cha Eun-woo at the company, it feels like time stops. As a multi-talented senior, I believe there’s so much I can learn from him since he is a senior artist who excels in so many areas. How was it like visiting the country for the first time and what were some of the memorable moments from the trip?</strong></div><p><strong>Do Hyun: </strong>During our visit to the Philippines, I was so happy to try delicious food and make happy memories.
