MANILA — Actor Piolo Pascual is considered the father of the upcoming series "Pamilyang Sagrado" but his son, Iñigo Pascual, was not considered for a part in the show.

Speaking to reporters, Piolo said that Iñigo is busy with his business in the United States. He added that if they get to work together, it would be a challenge.

"He's in the (United) States, he's doing some work, it's his priority now. Given the chance, we'll cross the bridge and we'll get there — kasi, even my son is not comfortable working with me," Piolo told reporters in an interview.

Meanwhile, Pascual said he is glad at how complex his character, Rafael Sagrado, is and how he can play with the role.

"Ang sarap paglaruan kasi ang sama niya tapos alam mong maraming paghuhugutan doon sa conflict napagdadaanan ng character doon with Grae (Fernandez), with Mylene (Dizon), with my dad Tirso Cruz (III), with John Arcilla, then there's Kyle (Echarri), there's Shaina (Magdayao), then there's Bela (Padilla)," Piolo said.

"Napaka-complex niya, sabi ko ito 'yung tipo ng story na ang sarap bigyan ng buhay kasi hindi ka nakakahon. You go with the flow kasi as your writers, as your scripts come, ikaw mismo 'yung maa-amaze sa pag-expose ng conflict. It's nice to be in that ride, to just be along the ride, be a collaborator," he added.

However, Pascual stressed how characters should have a redemption arc regardless which side they are on.

"At first, that's why, 'pag doon (masama) ka kailangan may redemption, hindi ka stuck doon ... when you want to show something to the viewers, that you want to bring to them, learn from and take it with them para naman may learnings, may hopes, mayroon kang redemption doon sa story," he said.

Asked what character would fit Iñigo, Piolo replied: "Kailangan magaling ka sa pareho, hindi pwedeng mabait ka lang, hindi pwedeng masama ka lang, lahat kailangang pagdaanan mo, you have to be both."

"Pamilya Sagrado" will air on weekdays, 8:45 p.m., on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, Jeepney TV and TV5.
