Photos from artists' respective X accountsThree members of the K-pop boy band EXO have accused their longtime agency, SM Entertainment, of imposing "unfair" demands regarding their earnings from their personal endeavors, according to reports.

This development rekindles a conflict between the trio and the K-pop powerhouse, which appeared to have been resolved a year ago. At that time, SM Entertainment had allowed members Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin to pursue solo activities under a different agency INB100, while simultaneously participating in EXO promotions under SM.

During a press conference held on Monday, the trio's legal representatives alleged that SM was insisting on a 10-percent royalty from the revenue of the artists' solo ventures, Yonhap news agency reported.

This demand came despite SM's failure to uphold its commitments made during the resolution of the prior dispute last year, according to the report.

The lawyer also reportedly claimed that SM Entertainment had promised the three members a commission rate of 5.5 percent — far lower than the prevailing market rate — if their music was distributed through SM's majority shareholder, Kakao Entertainment.

But the lawyer stressed that SM is solely focused on extracting revenue without fulfilling its side of the deal, according to the report.

In a separate statement, SM has denied the claims made by the trio's camp, saying Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin willingly agreed to pay 10 percent of revenue from their solo activities, Yonhap reported.

The agency reiterated its assertion that the conflict stems from a third party's attempt to lure away its artists.

SM added they would not tolerate the trio's attempts to invalidate their contracts with the company, based on Yonhap's story.

Launched in 2012 by SM Entertainment, EXO is known for hit singles such as "Growl," "Ko Ko Bop" and "Love Shot."
