It is also the first musical commissioned and developed by Rainbow Stage.</p><p>It is a hilarious musical filled with original pop music and hip-hop dance.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/2024/3/26/all-filipino-musical-to-premiere-in-manitoba-in-june-2040">All-Filipino musical to premiere in Manitoba in June<br/></a></div><p>&quot;Ma-Buhay&quot; tells the story of three singing and dancing finalists who joined a fictional TV show titled &quot;Star on the Rise.&quot;</p><p>Among the 22 cast members is Broadway star Maan Dionisio. The film and TV actress previously played Kim in &quot;Miss Saigon&quot; and Eponine in &quot;Les Miserables&quot; but never a Filipino character until now.</p><p>&quot;I was very inspired to be a part of something that was so Filipino,&quot; she said, &quot;with so uniquely Winnipeg-inspired Filipino stories.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Ma-Buhay&quot; is for the dreamer in all who watch it and for that voice inside telling them to never give up and to keep believing.</p><p>&quot;When you see the show, you will see yourself in [it],&quot; said Sevillo. &quot;You will be inspired just for existing as a Filipino in Canada.&quot;</p><p>The playwright added: &quot;The whole point of this musical is to inspire Filipinos and bring everyone together, even non-Filipinos, to show that we are more alike than different.&quot;</p>
