Filipino-American singer Jules Aurora was riding the high of making a childhood dream come true, from rehearsals with some of the Philippines’ most talented singers to the actual performance in “ASAP Natin ‘To” California where she sang with Yeng Constantino

That dream culminated in front of a live audience in the sold-out Toyota Arena in Ontario this past weekend.

She’s no stranger to high-stakes productions and packed venues, but Aurora admitted that performing for a huge Filipino audience gives her a special kind of happiness and fulfillment.

“I am honored to be here," she said. I’m a first-timer. I’m singing a medley with some legends, with Martin Nievera, with Regine Velasquez, and I'm duetting with Yeng Constantino. I'm pinching myself literally. Every part of this whole process, it's been a dream.”

An “American Idol” and “X Factor” alum before her ASAP debut performance, Aurora settled her nerves backstage by catching up with fellow Fil-Am talents who were also part of the show.

Coming down from the stage moments after the big number, she was bursting with excitement from knowing she gave it her all.

Fil-Am talents who performed at ASAP included WCOPA champion James Calacsan, “The Voice” standouts Kaylee Brooke and Jeremy and Justin Garcia, as well as “Star in a Million’s” Garth Garcia, and Philippine Queen of Soul Jaya.

Filipinos born or raised abroad and those who are biracial sometimes suffer from discrimination and a senseless and hurtful questioning of their Filipino identity.

For many of the artists, this inclusion was meaningful.

Commanding the piano for the performance was acclaimed international music artist and producer Troy Laureta. He credits Original Pilipino Music icon and composer Homer Flores as one of his biggest inspirations.

Troy Laureta, artist-producer, said: "I watched TFC and ABS-CBN since I was a kid. So to be a part of ASAP, and to be a part of all of this, and I'm still gagged by that. I'm still humbled, and I'm loving it. I'm just living the moment right now.”

The two-part “ASAP Natin ‘To” in California airs on Aug. 11 and concludes on Aug. 18.
