The film, directed by Tatum's fiancée Zoe Kravitz in her highly anticipated directorial debut, delves deep into the intricate and perilous dynamics of power and control.

Alongside Tatum, BAFTA best actress Naomi Ackie (“Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody”) stars as Frida, a character whose journey resonates with many.

"It was scary but somewhat freeing to dive into the abyss and live there for a while," Tatum explained, describing the challenge and intrigue in bringing this character to life. The role required him to explore new depths of his acting repertoire, crafting a persona that is both unsettling and captivating.

Ackie, who plays Frida, brings her own depth to the film. She discussed her deep connection to her character, highlighting the universal feeling of powerlessness and the struggle to overcome it.

"Even if you're in a different place now, you're still acting on past experiences," Ackie noted, emphasizing how these elements are woven into Frida’s journey. Her portrayal aims to strike a chord with audiences who have faced similar challenges, making Frida a relatable figure for many.

Under Kravitz's direction, "Blink Twice" offers a compelling narrative that encourages viewers to reflect on the abuse of power. Ackie hopes the film will "reawaken awareness" and spark important conversations about power dynamics in everyday life. The film poses questions about control, influence, and the human condition, urging audiences to examine how these themes play out in their own lives.

With Kravitz at the helm, "Blink Twice" promises to be a captivating exploration of human nature and the lengths people will go to maintain control. Her direction brings a fresh perspective, ensuring the film leaves a lasting impact on its viewers. As Tatum and Ackie bring these complex characters to life, the film is set to leave audiences questioning the very nature of power and its impact on relationships, making it a must-see in contemporary cinema.

The ensemble cast also includes Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan and Geena Davis.

"Blink Twice" is showing in Philippine cinemas on August 21.
