Before venturing into music, Los Akiyama starred in “Kung Nag-aatubli,” where he got his first acting trophy.

“It was a moment of validation, and more than anything, I thought, maybe there is a place for me in this industry,” Akiyama said.

With the help of Chris Cahilig’s record label Insight Music, the singer released his debut single “Buti Na Lang,” composed by Jason Dedal, arranged by Brian Lotho, and produced by Insight 360 Music.

The P-pop soloist also launched the music video for the song with Dizelle C. Masilungan as director. He thanked the people behind the MV — Denver Kyle Pangilinan, Anton Stefano Acosta, Veronica Caridad, Dang Calumba, Tatjana Deocareza, and Marian Jayce Tiongzon.

As he introduces his brand as an artist to the music scene, he shared, “I am incredibly excited to share 'Buti Na Lang' with the world, because we worked very hard for the song and the music video to be the best that it can be and make its mark in the P-pop industry.”

He added, “More than that, it is my hope that it resonates with the Filipino audience.”

According to the pop artist, the track, which talks about deciding to open a door and seeing a brighter chance at love, can also relate to his direction in life — how he almost contemplated a return to the corporate world, but decided to take more chances in the entertainment industry.

Akiyama talks about his family

Born in Quezon City and raised in San Pablo City, Laguna, the P-pop artist’s journey is deeply rooted in family.

He recalled, “[Our family] does not know what a reunion is, because of how often we see each other.”

Despite his Japanese heritage, he has yet to visit the country, expressing his deep interest in exploring that part of his roots.

He graduated Cum Laude with a degree of Management Engineering in the Ateneo de Manila University.

His interests include volleyball, swimming, cooking, woodworking, and metalworking, adding, “I enjoy traveling and diving into specific topics I can gain knowledge on.”

Reflecting as a newbie, he expressed, “Just put yourself out there. There are so many ways to create, so many ways to share your talent, and so many ways to connect with people searching for exactly what you’re giving.”

He emphasized the importance of being genuine: “Knowing yourself, and continually finding yourself in the things that you do, that insatiable desire for learning about yourself and the world around you leads to growth that no one can take from you.”
