MANILA -- Tony Award winner Lea Salonga and renowned actress Dolly de Leon are among the Filipinos celebrating Carlos Yulo's historic feats in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

When the stars were asked about what "gives them joy" during a Masterclass session at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati on Wednesday evening, De Leon exclaimed: "Carlos Yulo!"

Salonga added: "The medals from our two female boxers, the golds from Carlos Yulo."

Yulo became the first Filipino athlete to win multiple medals in a single Olympics when he won both the floor exercise and vault gold in men's artistic gymnastics in Paris.

Meanwhile, Aira Villegas clinched a bronze, and Nesthy Petecio is still in the hunt for the gold medal match in their respective divisions in boxing.

Yulo's triumph ensured that the Philippines will improve upon its performance in the Tokyo Games in 2021, when iconic weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won the country's first ever Olympic gold medal.

Salonga also said she also finds fulfillment in a "drama free life."

“[I find joy] in doing good work, being able to travel, spending time with friends, family. Drama belongs on stage, not in life,” she added.

“Same. Being at home,” De Leon agreed.

The veteran actresses will be alternating in the solo play "Request sa Radyo," the Filipino adaptation of Franz Xaver Kroetz's landmark piece "Wunschkonzert" or "Request Program."

The strictly limited engagement of 20 performances, which will run from October 10, 2024 until October 20, 2024, will showcase a different aspect of the stars’ craft.

Request sa Radyo is produced by Clint Ramos, Bobby Garcia, and Christopher Mohnani for Ayala Land and GMG Productions.
