MANILA — Even the members of BGYO were surprised by the sudden resurgence of their lovestruck pop track "When I'm With You," three years after it was first heard as a single.

In recent weeks, the song about becoming one's best self in the right company appears to have resonated with a fresh audience, making the rounds on social media and generating new fan covers.

"Nagulat na lang din ako kasi pagkita ko sa X, ang daming nag-ti-tweet," BGYO member JL Toreliza told ABS-CBN News on Wednesday.

"First album pa siya, e!" Akira Morishita pointed out.

Written and composed by Kidwolf, "When I'm With You" is one of the tracks from the first studio album of BGYO, "The Light," released in October 2021.

"Na-surprise po kami," Nate Porcalla said of the renewed interest in the song.

Among others, a resurfaced mash-up of the tune with One Direction's "Perfect" and BGYO's old live performances of "When I'm With You" have extended its traction online.

The opportunity to strike while the proverbial iron is hot was not lost on the boys, who on Thursday included "When I'm With You" in their Wish Bus set, along with their most recent single, "Trash."

On TikTok, Toreliza and Morishita each did a "duet" with a KaraoKeysPH piano accompaniment for the song's chorus that was also just recently posted.

Those are aside from the inclusion of "When I'm With You" in BGYO's Fiesta Filipino repertoire earlier this month, and its soundtrack treatment for a recap video of the members' California trip.

Credit also goes to BGYO's loyal fanbase, with Mikki Claver expressing gratitude to "all the people who share our music and of course our ACEs."

"We're always thankful," the group's leader Gelo Rivera said, pertaining also to their recent North America events and their nomination in Brazil's BreakTudo awards. "Ang daming mga bagay na dapat ipagpasalamat, mga dapat na grateful kami."
