Jake Zyrus on what he loves most about his relationship with Cheesa Laureta: 'We grow together'

<p>Jake Zyrus shared the story of how he met his girlfriend, Cheesa Laureta, and what he loves most about their relationship.</p><p>In a Q&amp;A session with fans in his latest YouTube vlog, Jake revealed that he and Cheesa have known each other for over a decade and were close friends long before they became a couple.</p><p>&quot;We were friends first like long time. I think eleven or twelve years, so magkaibigan muna kami. It was just really unexpected pero na-meet ko siya nung ano pa niya nung <em>The Voice </em>era. But yeah, the rest is history. We were friends. You know, the romantic story of the friends to lovers,&quot; he shared.</p><p>When asked what he appreciates most about their relationship, Jake said he values how they inspire each other to grow.</p><p>&quot;I love our relationship. I love Cheesa&#x27;s and I relationship because I love that we challenge each other. I love that &#x27;yung journey namin is like we grow together, that&#x27;s so important... Out all of the people that I met whether relationship or friendship, she definitely challenges me,&quot; he said.</p><p>The singer went on: &quot;She&#x27;s not a yes person. She definitely calls me out when I&#x27;m wrong And I feel like we have that good dynamics. Its just so perfect.&quot;</p><p>Jake also highlighted how much they uplift each other. &quot;We match, we need each other, we grow together. We make each [other] better. I love seing her happy. I love seeing her be free. I love seeing her just in her element and she&#x27;s very talented. Cheesa),&quot; &quot;Yakap,&quot; &quot;Lighthouse,&quot; and the global hit &quot;Pyramid.&quot;</p><p>In the same vlog, Jake opened up about the experience re-recording his earleir tracks.</p><p>&quot;I was able to take control. I was able to actually do everything myself, obviously with the help of my trusted friends. Pero kakaiba lang &#x27;yung feeling if ikaw &#x27;yung may hawak ng lahat kasi parang... you have freedom to do whatever you want, be creative, lahat, and to me dun ko na-realize na ay &#x27;yun pala &#x27;yung kulang. I needed to be in control because I know what I want. Alam ko kung ano ang gusto kong gawin,&quot; he said in a Q&amp;A with his fans in his latest YouTube vlog.</p><p>He added: &quot;It was very empowering, it was very nostalgic and dun ko rin na-realize na no matter, whether pre-transition or now transition, everything felt the same to me like technique wise, everything. It was quite a journey. I hope you guys will like it.&quot;</p><p>Jake also discussed his experience adjusting to his deeper voice after transitioning. One fan asked if singing felt different with his deeper voice. He confessed: &quot;In the beginning yes. It felt like I went through puberty all over again as a trans man.&quot;</p><p>He went on: &quot;Ngayon, when I did this EP, I think there was a lot of realization na talagang na-feel ko na for some reason na &#x27;yung technique na ginagamit ko kinda felt the same but again maybe my voice kinda stabilized now throughout the years. Yes and no there are some new techniques that I discovered as a trans man but at the same time, I still feel some techniques that I used before.&quot;</p>
