EXCLUSIVE: Mikee Quintos admits she is happier being single: ‘Parang napaaga akong nagseryoso’

<p>After her breakup with longtime boyfriend Paul Salas earlier this year, Mikee Quinto realized that there are a lot of things she almost missed out on since being in a relationship for the past four years. The actress shared in an exclusive interview with <strong>PUSH ABS-CBN</strong> how thankful she is to finally be able to finish her studies last June, getting her architectural degree from the University of Santo Tomas after ten years. </p><p>“Meron pa palang things na kaya kong gawin na akala ko hindi ko kaya. Like I almost gave up sa school. Pero after the breakup, naka-graduate ako and I’m starting to practice it. I’m starting to take projects and akala ko backseat na yun. Akala ko degree na lang siya with what I do in showbiz. Pero now, I never thought there was a possibility na makahanap ako work (related sa course ko). May ibang mundo pa pala na hindi ko alam. Ang daming ibang factors. Pero hindi ko na mapapansin ‘yun kung hindi ako nagkaroon ng space and time to see it and appreciate it. For 2026, I want to focus on self-discovery and more traveling. And ‘yung kayang maging sincere. ‘Yun lang. Simple lang ‘yun di ba? Bakit ang hirap? Joke!,” she said.</p><p>She added that she is now choosing to shift her focus inward first, to also prepare herself before getting into any relationship with anyone else. “New year’s resolution ko siguro is palakasin ‘yung boundaries ko. Kasi parang now I’m realizing parang napaaga akong nag-seryoso. I’m turning 28 this month and parang ngayon ko pa lang na-ge-gauge what I like and what I don’t like. Parang na-overwhelm ako sa dating scene now. Everything is so new. So nag-step back ako, honestly. Step back muna ako. So ngayon, I’m focusing all my energy on myself first before I go back to dating again. Ang daming kong naririnig na iba daw ‘yung experience kapag sa pelikula mo napiga ‘yung talent mo. And gusto ko ma-try eh. Impressive, and feeling ko mag-e-enjoy ako sa ibibigay niya pag ka-eksena mo siya. Feeling ko siya ‘yung type ng aktor na magugulat ka every take eh. ‘Yung wala siyang ibibigay na same. And wala lang, na-excite ako sa mga ganung katrabaho. I forgot the title pero meron siyang work na na-move ako sa iyak niya. Siya ‘yung first actor na nakita ko na umiyak siya na tinakpan niya ‘yung mukha niya eh. Tapos usually sinasabi sa actors (pag ganyan), ‘Sayang luha! Itapat mo sa camera!’ ganyan. Pero siya ‘yung unang nakita kong nag-cover ng face pero naapektuhan ako. Tapos nag-stick ‘yun sa akin na look, na hindi kailangan makita ‘yung luha para makaapekto ng viewers. And nag-stick ‘yun sa akin. And with my performance now, I try to deliver that also. Na parang hindi ko kailangan ng luha para maka-move ng people. I try to move people with my work with sincerity,” she explained. </p>
