EXCLUSIVE: Angel Aquino on avoiding showbiz burnout: ‘I really love what I do’

After enjoying a trip to Australia, actress Angel Aquino shared she was happy to be back in the country to help promote her latest film Fatherland by director Joel Lamangan before the start of Holy Week.“I love working with Direk Joel. I love his materials because it&#x27;s always something that speaks. That speaks about our plight as Filipinos. You know, it always has a message for the country, for our people. So, I love working in his movies. My trip was fine. That was the time I caught up with friends. I started to meet up with friends who also had the bright idea to not leave home, to not leave town. So, we were all just hooked up in Manila and it was time to catch up,” she shared with PUSH ABS-CBN.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/celebrities/2024/12/6/angel-aquino-recounts-how-she-was-discovered-as-a-model-1442">READ: Angel Aquino recounts how she was discovered as a model</a></div>After being discovered as a model at the age of 19 before finally getting into acting four years later with her onscreen debut in a role in the 1996 action drama Mumbaki, Angel said she has not experienced any burnout from her career even after almost three decades of being in the limelight.“Well, it&#x27;s mainly because it&#x27;s my passion. I really love what I do. So, whenever I get a role, whatever kind of role it is, it really scares me. It&#x27;s nerve-wracking for me. I&#x27;ve never done anything that I felt very, I felt complacent about, comfortable, and always, it always takes me out of my, because my comfort zone is home, you know, being a mother, and all that. But, when I&#x27;m given a role, it&#x27;s something that I am not. It&#x27;s a totally different person. I hope that people go back to watching movies, experiencing it in the cinema. I know it&#x27;s kind of costly, but, and also, when you do, please watch a Filipino movie because we really need your support, we need your help, we need, the industry needs our countrymen to support it, so that, you know, we can make more movies&#x27; di ba? We&#x27;ll be... we&#x27;ll take more risks, so please, let&#x27;s support the Filipino movie industry, even television. I know there are a lot of ways and venues to watch other stuff, but you know, we work hard making these materials for you, so please, please support, support the things that we do,” she explained.Watch Angel Aquino in Fatherland, now showing in cinemas nationwide.
