EXCLUSIVE: Gwen Zamora on returning to showbiz: ‘I miss the grind!’

Less than a year since moving back to the Philippines from Australia with her family and Gwen Zamora admits that she has been getting ready to do more acting projects this year. I miss it. I miss the grind! And I want my kids to also see me on TV because our eldest, he’s a character and you can tell that he wants to get into showbiz. At least, if he sees me in it and then sometimes I can bring him. He speaks English and he speaks French and understand Tagalog. He doesn’t fully speak it so I keep telling him, ‘You can’t be on TV here if you can’t speak Tagalog.’ So now we’re kind of training him to speak Tagalog,” she told PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview. <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/celebrities/2025/4/11/gwen-zamora-david-semerad-return-to-limelight-after-building-family-1733">READ: Gwen Zamora, David Semerad return to limelight after building family</a></div>In preparation to accepting more roles onscreen, Gwen admitted she really had to focus on working to reduce all her postpartum weight after having her second child Amber Mae in 2023. The pretty actress talked about the challenge of working out more consistently just like her husband, ex-PBA player David Semerad. “Because before, I would gym on and off. I’ll gym one week straight and then one week, wala. And then he told me you know, you’re not going to lose weight like that. Just commit, be consistent, and then you’ll see results. I did that,” she recalled. Gwen shared it was crucial for her to get back into shape before going back in the limelight for her physical and mental well-being. “Because when you’re not where you want to be, your mentally not there. So by losing the weight, I feel more confident. Before I was doing cardio because I thought that’s how you lose weight. ‘Yun pala, no,” she said. “Now, instead of cardio, all I do is lift weights. I think I lost 10 kilos already since I got here. But I stopped looking at the scale na because now it’s more about how I feel. I want to get my shoulders bigger. Now I’m focusing on the shoulders and then I want to get my glutes bigger and my butt. I was having a hard time with snacking. I did a plan to just cut down on the cravings and I’ve been maintaining it since.”After living in Australia for more than a year before deciding to return to the country again, Gwen shared what she and her husband missed a lot about the Philippines while living abroad. “We missed everything (laughs). We missed our friends, the people. Once a week in our home, there would be sinigang, and adobo!” she admitted. The new Exion celebrity ambassador first made her  mark in showbiz after playing the role of Vic Sotto’s fairy wife Faye in the MMFF entry Enteng Kabisote movie, followed by a slew of teleseryes in the Kapuso network. She was also part of the 2016 series Be My Lady and was last seen in the ABS-CBN 2019 series Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit where she played the role of Pilar Pilapil’s younger self, Divina.
