<p>Filipino diva Bituin Escalante reveals the story behind her literally starry name in an interview on the TFC talk show <em>BRGY.</em></p><p>“Alam mo, walang logic yun. They were going to name me Nicole, another name was Amanda, and so many names lined up. Tapos parang sa binyag na, biglang sinabi nung aunt ng mommy ko, Bituin. You needed a Christian name. Tapos sinabi nung pare, ‘Saan galing yung pangalang yan?’ (Sagot nila) sa langit,” she shared.</p><div><iframe width="2048" height="753" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oEFCFG30pjE" title="Bituin Escalante Shares Her Favorite Part as a TNT Hurado | Apr 21, 2025 | BRGY Ep 217" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>Bituin admitted that having such a name can be quite pressuring at times.</p><p>“Nakakatuwa na binigyan nila ako ng pangalan na nakaka-pressure,” she expressed.</p><p>Aside from her iconic name, Bituin has become known for her powerful and commanding presence on stage—something she admitted she wasn’t fully aware of.</p><p>“I never thought that I would give that impression until nga my peers started saying, ah, when you go on stage, ‘I watch you, I watch what you do.’ I was unaware,” she admitted.</p><p>She shared that she sees herself more as a storyteller than someone focused on self-presentation.</p><p>“I think it&#x27;s because of stage training also because I&#x27;m not, I&#x27;m not very self-bound. I&#x27;m more storyteller-bound. So kung ano yung kakantahin ko, that&#x27;s the space I inhabit. May kwento ako. Pag matibay yung tao, you know, they lose a contest, they move on, they find careers. But if it&#x27;s the spirit that you break, my gosh. That&#x27;s different,” she pointed out</p><p>She went on to say that healthy criticism is important to empower them.</p><p>“You find the middle ground ng giving healthy criticism that helps them move forward, di ba? You can&#x27;t just let them ah, okay na yan. No. You have to give your two cents, but not break their spirit,” Bituin shared.</p>
