KATSEYE’s Sophia Laforteza receives own custom Manananggal doll from Mattel’s Monster High

<p>Filipino KATSEYE member Sophia Laforteza has received her very own doll, a Manananggal, thanks to the group’s collaboration with Monster High, the popular fashion doll franchise created by Mattel.</p><p>Monster High is known for its unique concept of featuring teenage characters who are the children of famous monsters, such as Dracula and Frankenstein, among others.</p><p>In an Instagram post, Sophia, dressed as a Manananggal, shared photos of her custom doll and reflected on how much the Monster High brand meant to her growing up.</p><p>&quot;This was an emotional one. Monster High was clearly such a huge part of my childhood, and now, to actually live out the dream of having my own doll—and to represent my culture in the process—is something I’ll never take for granted,&quot; she remarked.</p><p>As part of the collaboration, KATSEYE recorded a remix of Monster High’s 2010 anthem, “Fright Song.” The members were also given a personalized Monster High dolls designed to showcase their individual style.</p><p>&quot;I still can’t believe that’s us on the &#x27;Fright Song&#x27; I have been singing my whole life. I had Draculaura, a special edition of Frankie, I had all these different dolls and I had to dig through my parents&#x27; Facebook to find birthday posts of me just unwrapping all of my Monster High birthday gifts. So, when the team went up to us one day and were like, what do you guys think of Monster High? I was like, yes. That&#x27;s all. Yes,&quot; Sophia remarked.</p><p>In a recent interview with <em>Teen Vogue</em>, Sophia shared what it means for her to represent Filipinos on the international stage as part of a global girl group.</p><p>The singer remarked that she is proud to showcase her Filipino identity on the global music scene through KATSEYE. </p><p>&quot;I want to be somebody who will never hide the fact that I&#x27;m Filipino,&quot; she pointed out. &quot;I want to be loud about it. It means a lot when somebody embraces their culture, especially their Philippine culture and their heritage.&quot;</p>
