Kapamilya singer and actor Gary Valenciano expressed how happy he was to be back on stage as he reprised his role as Jacob in the 2025 run of Joseph the Dreamer at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza in Makati City. The musical had its limited run this month and all shows have been sold out according to Trumpets Inc. and Playshop.

Apart from Gary, several actors such as Sam Concepcion, Carlo Orosa, and Kayla Rivera, among others, returned to the 2025 run of the musical. Gary played the role of Jacob, the father of Joseph (portrayed by Sam and Jordan Andrews).

When asked why he decided to return and reprise his role as Jacob, the Kapamilya actor maintained how timely the run was.

“Yung timing ng musical na to –– happening at this particular time with so much going on with the world and so much going on sa foundation ng family — I think it’s timely that we did this, so hopefully this will not be the last of its kind that I can do in the future,” he shared.

He revealed that he gave up several shows for this as he knew what kind of impact this musical could have on its audience.

“It’s about doing what’s timely and what I feel is going to really have an impact on people. Either when they watch it or later on when they remember it,” he added.

Having no alternate in the musical, Gary expressed how different each show is for him especially since there are two actors that are playing Joseph. He added how differently the two actors also interpret the role of Joseph.

“I’m just thankful na it’s never the same. Just as it’s never the same audience, it’s also never the exact same performance,” he said.

For the Kapamilya singer-actor, Joseph the Dreamer is a reminder of his faith and how it keeps him grounded in the things he does–– which he hopes the audience would learn as well after watching their show.

Joseph the Dreamer is about Joseph, a favored son, who was ripped from his family and sold into slavery by his own brothers who were blinded by jealousy. The cruel twist of fate that he had would take him into a journey of redemption where one dream would change his world.
