Tim Yap returns to theater with ‘The Bodyguard’ musical: ‘I knew the time was right’

<p>Even though he is more popularly known in the local industry as an event host and TV personality, Tm Yap said he is happy to finally showcase his other passion on stage this year as part of the cast of the upcoming 9Works Theatrical production <em>The Bodyguard</em>. And then I knew the time was right. Secretly, I wished it to happen and I manifested it. So I said yes immediately, I worked out the schedules and I worked out everything. I cut my fashion week trip, I cut my marathon trip, I cut all these other brand trips. And then after that I did lots of parts in the chorus of certain shows. I was the host in <em>West Side Story</em>, I played different characters in <em>Great White Way</em>, the narrator in <em>Darna</em> in Ballet Philippines, and then my latest production, also for 9Works Theatrical, would be as the guest star for <em>Grease</em>, yung pampagulat. I was the Teen Angel in two productions.</p><p>&quot;And then recently, I was the narrator in <em>Peter and the Wolf</em> with Repertory Philippines. So every time I can, I really make a cameo in the theater. I would to always pay tribute to my roots. Which is the theater. All the rest are like my friends who go to my events. We see each other in the vicinity of the creative world. I watch their shows. it’s been such an amazing ride, being with these amazing human beings, these talented theater people. The most down-to-earth, the most talented lot,” </p><p>Watch Tim Yap in 9Works Theatrical’s <em>The Bodyguard The Musical</em> starting September 26 until October 19, with shows at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at the Proscenium Theater at Rockwell in Makati City. </p>
