Alyssa Valdez recalls PBB journey: ‘It’s probably the right time to explore’

<p>Volleyball superstar and former <em>Pinoy Big Brother</em> (PBB) Kumunity Season 10 housemate Alyssa Valdez shared some of the learnings she had while she was inside the PBB house. She stayed in the PBB house for three months and was even the Top 2 out of the celebrity housemates but ultimately had to give it up as she suited up for the National Team. </p><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="681" height="383" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HCLKvKD4kbc" title="Why Alyssa Valdez Felt Empty Beyond the Spotlight | Unbreakable with Migs Bustos" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><p>Alyssa admitted that she didn’t know what to do at that time she entered the PBB house as there were no concrete plans for the professional volleyball scene then. For her, the timing was just right for her to explore and see a different side of herself. </p><div><br/></div><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/2023/6/29/look-alyssa-valdez-stuns-in-birthday-shoot-1423"><strong>LOOK: Alyssa Valdez stuns in birthday shoot</strong></a></div><div><br/></div><p>“What happened was wala kaming training so sabi ko ano ba pwedeng gawin kasi they asked me several times if I wanted to join or be part of the <em>Pinoy Big Brother.</em> One of the main reasons why I entered was because nag pandemic nga and everyone was like kung wala ngang volleyball, sino ka ba? What’s your identity? Ano ba gagawin mo? Paano mo makikilala yung sarili mo kasi everyone was like in panic–– we don’t know kung babalik ulit,” she recalled.</p><p>Her stint inside the PBB house was the time she got to know herself even more outside of volleyball. She added how she even made lifelong friends with her fellow housemates who she consistently talks to until today.  </p><p>“Naenjoy ko naman yung PBB, I have friends from that season na hanggang ngayon, friends pa rin kaming lahat. Forever na kami magiging friends,” she added.</p><p>Alyssa admitted that she’s grateful that she entered the world of sports before becoming a housemate as she got to confirm all the lessons she learned outside the PBB house. </p><div><br/></div><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/2023/12/18/alyssa-valdez-wins-gold-with-club-team-in-pvl-1904"><strong>READ: Alyssa Valdez wins gold with club team in PVL</strong></a></div><div><br/></div><p>“Ang dami palang matututunan talaga sa sports,” she revealed.</p><p>“As a player, sanay ako na kahit kaibigan kita kakalabanin kita. It’s a healthy competition. Others pala, sometimes, they don’t see it that way. Parang, oh my God it’s so hard na maghihiwalay tayo. I feel like iba rin talaga yung nabigay sa akin ng sports in terms of character, values,” she added.</p><p>Known for her competitiveness, the volleyball superstar shared in the same interview that she also learned that she has a funny side that was brought out during her stint as a housemate. </p><p>Despite not being in the Big Night of her batch, many netizens called her the Big Winner that was never crowned–– from never being nominated to being one of the Top 2 finalists up until having to give the slot up for the country. </p>
