MANILA — From the runway to the big and small screens, the recording booth, and even the stage, Samantha da Roza said she is ready to embrace all aspects of show business.Da Roza, daughter of former top model Cathy da Roza, shared the loving but strict guidance of her grand-aunt, 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, while she was growing up prepared her journey in the spotlight.“She is very supportive. Always may konting hirit. Always in the service of wanting me to improve,” Da Roza said in an interview held in Quezon City, Tuesday. “She is supportive but tough love. She will tell you right away. She is an absolute perfectionist. She is very detail-oriented.”The actress said Diaz instilled in her the confidence to push herself beyond her limits.“She always encouraged me to go beyond, not just showbiz but different industries… Her advice is to be ‘delulu’—to be delusional that you are the most beautiful, the most talented, the best in the whole world,” she reasoned. At the premiere of her first film, “Isla Babuyan,” Da Roza said her grand aunt showed support not only ny showing up but by giving her tips to improve.“You are OK but you did not look at the camera. You can do more,” she recalled Diaz telling her after the screening. She added that the iconic beauty queen was one who inspired her to step into the limelight. “When I found out about her—na starstruck din ako—I thought, I can do that. I can sing and act. Nakaka-inspire. I think sa kanya nag-start,” she said.While she launched her career with Isla Babuyan, Da Roza said she is eager to explore every corner of entertainment— especially music.“It is my first love,” she revealed. “I am interested in doing pop and r&amp;b. I also play the guitar and I am learning the piano,” she explained.Da Roza is also keeping busy with several business ventures, including a jewelry collection she hopes to launch soon.
