He announced this through Ogie Diaz who shared that the actor called him up to clarify any misunderstandings circulating on social media. “Tumawag lang daw siya sa amin para sabihin walang kinalaman ang naturang volleyball player. Pag amin pa ni Gerald, durog na durog na siya sa mga naglalabasan bashing sa kanya kaya sana raw ay matigil na ang issue,” Ogie said. Gerald and Julia first started being linked together in 2019 before they officially went public with their relationship in 2021. The two first started working closely together in director Jason Paul Laxamana’s 2019 romantic drama Between Maybes which was shot in Japan.
