EXCLUSIVE: Baron Geisler’s daughter Sophia Asistio on entering showbiz: ‘It’s possible’

<p>Stepping out and attending their first official showbiz event together at this year’s Preview Ball, Baron Geisler and his 18-year-old daughter Sophia Asistio (with actress Nadia Montenegro) looked right at home in their chosen Filipiniana wear for the night. They talked to <strong>PUSH ABS-CBN</strong> in an exclusive interview on the red carpet to share their thoughts about their shared love for theater.</p><p>“Kung tutuusin, kung may pondo lang tayo, kaya nating tapatan ang teatro sa abroad. Kasi iba rin ang disiplina ng mga Filipino, iba ang creative side ng mga Pinoy. To me, kailangan natin i-flaunt yun. Yun ang kailangan i-flaunt ng buong Pilipinas. Kasi, kung tutuusin, kaya natin eh, kaya natin pang lagpasan ang mga countries na katabi ng Pilipinas eh.</p><p>&quot;And iba rin ang sensibilities ng mga Pinoy kasi they can collaborate with top tier designers worldwide. And slowly naman, we’re collaborating not only through yung mga damit, but also I heard, we’re collaborating with international people sa film and TV industry. Hardworking and God-willing soon maging globally respected tayo sa ating mga gawa,” Baron said.</p><p>In 2017, Baron made his theater debut as one of the lead stars of Tanghalang Pilipino’s historical musical, <em>Aurelio Sedisyo</em>.</p><p>Sophia, echoed her dad’s sentiment, and even admitted she would consider getting into theater first before really entering into showbiz. ”It’s possible. If ever na I’d go to showbiz, parang I’d go through that first. Kasi that’s where the authentic artists are. But she is interested in taking on unconventional and challenging roles just like her dad. “I’m not yet (auditioning) kasi now my priority is school talaga. But if ever I’m going to start, I’ll start with theater. For now, wala pa (dream role). But I want to do something near to what he’s doing na very creative, yung di mo maiisip, yung ganun,” she shared. </p><p>When asked if he has already given his eldest daughter any advice on joining the industry, the <em>Incognito</em> actor said he is happy to just support her college education and harness their shared love for the stage.</p><p>“Later on na siguro yung advice. For now, sinusuportahan ko siya sa kolehiyo niya and going back to theater, yes it did save my life and I’m grateful to all the people behind CCP Tanghalang Pilipino who gave me hope. Before entering theater, I was spiraling backwards. At dahil dun, ngayon, kung makikita niyo, I’m so grateful to God because I’m spiraling, and stumbling forward. I’m just really grateful.
