<p><em>Content Warning: the following story contains a discussion on addiction.</em><br/><br/>Former award-winning indie actress Katherine Luna shared her journey of recovery from drug addiction. In a series of TikTok videos shared on January 22, Katherine talked about her experiences and expressed her gratitude to her former boyfriend Coco Martin and actress Julia Montes, who supported her during her recovery. </p><p>Katherine earlier revealed in March 2025 that she went through a four-year imprisonment for drug-related offenses with a former partner. Nearly a year since she decided to live clean, she shared that one of the first steps she took was distancing herself from people who could bring her back to her old ways. Isa lang po ang sinabi ko: ‘Pasensya na, pass na ako. Subukan ko nang magbagong buhay. Gusto ko nang mag-bagong buhay. Gusto ko na magtuloy-tuloy umiwas.’ Yun lang po, umiwas ako unang-una.” </p><p>She explained that staying away from friends did not mean she no longer cared for them, but that she did not want to experience again the consequences of using drugs. Ever since sharing her story with the public, Katherine said that she has found hope after learning that there were people willing to help her. “Simula noong nalaman ko na merong tao na handang tumulong, naging masaya po ang puso ko. Hindi ko alam kung paano ako babangon kasi hindi ko alam kung paano ko maibabalik lahat,” she added. </p><p>“Ang mga nalululong sa droga, mahina po ang pag-iisip sa temptasyon. Nandyan lang po yan. Kung hindi po tayo iiwas, hindi talaga tayo makakaiwas. During moments of temptation, she prays and asks for strength, both mentally and physically, to stay on the right path. </p><p>Addressing criticism online, Katherine said people who do not want to see her content can simply skip her videos. She explained that she has only been clean for about a year and that change takes time. Creating content makes her happy as she chooses to stay away from old circles and focus on being a mother to her children. </p><p>Despite negative comments, she finds strength in those who believe in her.  </p><p>In a separate video, Katherine shared that she did not go to rehabilitation but made a personal decision to stop. “Nung nag-decide ako sa sarili ko… bigla na lang po isang araw nagising ako na gusto ko nang talikuran. Isinumpa ko siya. Nung napanood ko ang sarili ko sa interview, sobra-sobra akong nasaktan kasi nakita ko kung paano ko sinira yung sarili ko. Sa tulong din ng mga anak ko, sa tulong ng pamilya ko, nai-stop ko siya.” </p><p>She shared that she experienced withdrawal symptoms but overcame them after realizing that there were still people willing to help her.  </p><p>She then expressed her gratitude to Coco and Julia, who supported her recovery and paid for her eye surgery. “Kaya po kay Direk Coco, kay Ma’am Julia, taos-puso talaga akong nagpapasalamat sa kanila. Walang laman ang isip, ang puso ko ngayon, kundi puro pasasalamat lang. Reading Coco’s message in his vlog, Ogie shared: “Sabi nga ni Coco, naaawa raw siya kay Katherine at gusto ko siyang tulungan. Nakulong pala siya. In another TikTok video, she shared clips taken before the procedure, when she had no control over her eye movements due to an untreated infection, as well as footage showing improvement just days after the surgery. </p><p>“Buong akala ko noon, wala nang pag-asa… Pero heto ako ngayon, nabigyan ng isa pang pagkakataon sa tulong ng ating Panginoon at ng mga taong ginawa niyang instrumento para tulungan at iahon ako mula sa pagkakasadlak,” she said.</p>
