<p>Award-winning director Jun Robles Lana has made a sincere appeal for proper name credit in the entertainment industry, asking that his full professional name be used in write-ups and citations as a way of honoring his mother and her role in shaping his life and career. </p><p>The director took to X (formerly Twitter) on January 28 to thank the public for the support shown to his upcoming projects, which include the stage play <em>About Us But Not About Us</em>, the musical adaptation of <em>Die Beautiful</em>, and his forthcoming film <em>Sisa</em>. She single-handedly raised me and unwaveringly supported my love for writing at a time when it wasn’t the most practical choice to support our family. Despite the complexities of our relationship, I chose to carry her name into every frame I compose and every script I write. It is my way of honoring her through my work.” </p><p>The director emphasized that while the addition of a middle name may seem minor to others, it carries great meaning for him. </p><p>“It has been over a decade since I began billing myself this way, and while it might seem like a small addition to some, it means the world to me. We live in a time where we’ve finally learned to respect people’s pronouns because we understand that identity is sacred. On January 1, the <em>Call Me Mother</em> director reflected on how expensive cinema prices have changed the spirit of the long-running festival. </p><p>“By pricing the ordinary Filipino out of the theater, the industry hasn’t just lost customers, it has lost its soul. Cinema has shifted from a shared national culture to a middle-class privilege,” he previously said.</p>
