<p>Ruby Rodriguez opened up about why she decided to move to the US despite her thriving career in showbiz in the Philippines.</p><p>In an interview with Luchi Cruz-Valdes in her YouTube vlog, Ruby shared that she made the move for the treatment of her son, AJ.</p><p>&quot;I left [the Philippines in] 2021. It&#x27;s for my son kasi nga he is being treated here [in the US] for a rare autoimmune [condition]. And then let&#x27;s face it mas maganda ang special education dito because my son&#x27;s also special, he has intellectual disability. She now is working at the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles, California. </p><p>&quot;I planned it, 2018 pa lang we were deciding already to move. 2019 came and then I said in the 2018 that I was planning, I said I don&#x27;t want to go to the US na wala akong trabaho,&quot; she recounted.</p><p>Since she is a college graduate, Ruby applied for work at the consulate. &quot;I applied and sent everything, do the exams, interviews, lahat, and then I passed. So they got me 2019. They know the real reason why I was moving. [I told them] tapusin ko lang po &#x27;yung school ni AJ [sa Philippines] kasi matatapos na siya March [or] April. Sabi [nila] okay and then COVID [happened],&quot; she said.</p><p>Her plans got on hold in 2020 because of the pandemic before she got to move to the US in 2021.</p><p>When asked about how she initially adjusted to her new life in the US when she moved there, Ruby recalled: &quot;At first, it was like, oh I&#x27;m all alone... But then it&#x27;s fun because I have a lot of friends, all my family&#x27;s here, like I said I traveled back forth so sanay. And then it&#x27;s like you are very, very independent dito. Ang nakakapanibago is like hindi ako marunong magluto so kailangan matuto ka... Asawa ko magaling magluto, okay lang. Akin na ang grocery and all.&quot;</p>
