<p>Following the success of his multi-city <em>Kumarsutra: Greatest Hits</em>, and <em>Beats, Rhymes &amp; Punchlines</em> last year, Singaporean stand-up comedian Kumar returns to Manila for the third time for his latest one-night only show <em>FIFTY:50</em> which is part of his wordlwide tour this year. The well-loved Singaporean entertainer, whose full name is Kumarason Chinnadurai, first announced his return to the country earlier this year in an Instagram post.</p><p>He wrote, “Mabuhay Manila.😘 Did you miss me? Because i miss you already po! I’m excited to announce that i will be coming back to Manila in 2026, on the 18th of April at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre.😎 I heard you loved <em>Beats, Rhymes &amp; Punchlines</em> and i just can’t wait to be back. Not just the mouth — shoulders shaking, friends slapping each other, someone shouting from the back like its karaoke night. It’s like a fiesta of laughter,” he told <strong>PUSH ABS-CBN</strong> in an exclusive interview. .</p><p>“Filipinos are also very quick. You cannot be lazy on stage with them. If the joke is good, they reward you immediately. If it’s not, they will look at you like their tita judging your life choices. And that’s what I love. Comedy should feel like a conversation, not a lecture,” he added.</p><p>The veteran performer, whose career has already spanned more than three decades as a comedian, TV host, actor, and drag queen, also makes sure he can better relate to his audience, and has even learned some Tagalog slang in the process.</p><p>“When I come back, I come prepared. I always tweak my material for the room, because comedy is like adobo — same ingredients but every household makes it differently. And the Manila crowd? They are next level. Our families are dramatic, our cultures are colorful, and our lives are sometimes so ridiculous that if we don’t laugh, we might cry.”</p><p>This, he explained, is not far from his own kind of humor. “My comedy is very Asian in that sense. We laugh at ourselves, our families, our culture, our contradictions. One minute we are making fun of our aunties and the next minute, we are talking about heartbreak.”</p><p>He added: “Pinoy humor is also very playful. Filipinos love wordplay, exaggeration, and the dramatic reaction. In fact, sometimes when I’m performing, the audience becomes the co-comedian. It’s stories about life, culture, relationships, and sometimes the ridiculous things we Asians do to survive in society. Of course there will be new material, some Filipino references, and a lot of interaction with the audience — which means if you sit in the front row, please be brave. Because when I see someone interesting, I cannot help myself. I must talk to them.“</p><p>“But at the end of the night, the goal is simple: people should walk out feeling lighter.
