Barefoot Theatre Collaborative will stage the Asian premiere of psychological thriller anthropology, a play written by one of America’s most-produced contemporary playwrights, Lauren Gunderson. It will run for three weeks from March 13 to 29 at the Doreen Black Box, Areté in Quezon City.   anthropology follows Merril, an expert Artificial Intelligence (AI) programmer who struggles to accept the disappearance and death of her sister, Angie. Using her technical expertise, Merril recreates her sister as an AI, initially as a way to cope with loss. As the story evolves, the line between remembrance and obsession begins to blur, transforming comfort into something far more unsettling.   The Philippine staging features a powerhouse all-female cast. Jenny Jamora takes on the role of Merril, the AI programmer at the center of the story, with Maronne Cruz portraying her sister Angie. All seats are elevated on bleachers, except for the first row of Sections A and C. This layout allows viewers to choose between elevated sightlines and closer proximity to the stage, depending on their preferred seating section. <div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1768818552421Seat Map.png" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/></div><div> </div>Tickets are now available with an exclusive early bird promo, giving audiences a 15% discount on all tickets from January 19 to February 19. Standard seats are available for Php1,900 (regular price of Php2,200) and Premium seats are priced at Php2,200 (regular price of Php2,500). Tickets are available at bit.ly/anthropologytickets.  The production is directed by Caisa Borromeo, who leads a creative team that includes D Cortezano for technical direction and lighting design, Sarah Facuri for production design, Arvy Dimaculangan for sound design, and CueCraft together with Steven Tansiongco for video design.  The play runs for 90 minutes with no intermission and carries a PG-13 rating due to language and themes that may not be suitable for younger audiences. Children below seven years old will not be admitted to the theater. Content warnings include references to grief, loss, suicide, mental health issues, abuse, and substance use.  This production of anthropology is licensed by Harmonia Holdings, Ltd. under special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Ltd.  Apart from anthropology, Barefoot Theatre Collaborative is also the company behind critically acclaimed productions such as Bar Boys: The Musical, Mula sa Buwan, and We Aren’t Kids Anymore.
