Lorna Tolentino returns to horror after 29 years with MMFF entry 'Espantaho'

<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/173252719234920241125091128_lorna.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt=" Lorna Tolentino"/> Lorna Tolentino MANILA -- After nearly three decades, veteran actress Lorna Tolentino is making her return to the horror genre with the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry &quot;Espantaho,&quot; set for release this December. </div>The film reunites her with celebrated director Chito Roño, who directed her last horror film, &quot;Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara,&quot; in 1995.Reflecting on her return to the genre, Tolentino highlighted the advancements in filmmaking technology.“Sa digital na lang, &#x27;yung technical aspect, napakalaki ng pinagbago,” she said. “Parang &#x27;yung mga effects na lumalabas sa atin ngayon is mas male-level up mo na sa international or sa ibang bansa. Makikita mo na, ‘Uy, kaya na pala ng mga Pinoy na gumawa ng ganung klase na mga effects,’ including the prosthetics na ginamit. Makikita mo talaga na nagiging at par [tayo] for me sa abroad,” she said.Tolentino admitted that working with Roño again made her return to horror seamless.“Siguro matagal na din kaming magkakilala, magkasama, madami na kaming pinagdaanan,” she said. “Ngayon kasi, nakikita ko din passion niya, &#x27;yung hunger niya to be really the best sa film namin.”Aside from &quot;Espantaho,&quot; Tolentino hinted at an exciting new project, this time with fellow veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez. However, she declined to provide further details as the project is still in the early stages of development.Tolentino remains active in the industry and can currently be seen on ABS-CBN’s hit primetime series &quot;FPJ&#x27;s Batang Quiapo.&quot;
