Not only something that&#x27;s physically incredibly demanding, but emotionally, putting yourself in the perspective of a guy who&#x27;s trying to show up for his family,&quot; Powell said.Powell portrays Ben Richards, who joins a deadly game show where contestants must survive 30 days while being hunted by &quot;hunters&quot; hired to kill them.&quot;His family&#x27;s in a dire position. His daughter&#x27;s gonna die, and he has to show up and sign up for a game show that no one&#x27;s ever won before, where everyone has died,&quot; he said of his character.While the story was written in 1982, Powell believes the message has never felt more true, reflecting the despicable ways that artificial intelligence and social media can be abused.&quot;We are all living in a reality show, right? I mean, the world that we live in is constantly being filmed. We are living in an Instagram and TikTok world in which narratives are being created and things are being edited and guided,&quot; Powell said, adding that the film is a &quot;story about our times.&quot;Powell hopes the story would inspire underdogs to believe that they can unite and fight.&quot;I think it&#x27;s just a real great underdog story, just a real great human story,&quot; he said.
