Pixar announces new animated film ‘Gatto’ about a cat in Venice

Pixar has revealed a new animated film titled Gatto, slated for a 2027 theatrical release.The announcement was delivered by DisneyPixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter during the Annecy Animation Festival in France.According to a report by Variety, set in the city of Venice, Gatto centers on Nero, a black cat who starts to question the life he’s led. Though not a fan of water and only partially drawn to music, Nero owes a debt to a local feline crime boss. Toy Story 5 is slated for a theatrical release on June 19, 2026.The previous installment, Toy Story 4, premiered in 2019 and earned over $1 billion worldwide. It also took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.The first Toy Story movie premiered in 1995.
